Want to try the restaurant which never repeats a dish. Really beyond my expectations. It’s amazing if they present food consistently great as today. ( it’s my first time. So I am not sure about other nights). The chefs did an amazing job being creative and cooking delicious food. Everything was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The atmosphere was light and cozy, suitable for daring night.
Ohhh… All the fundamental things are perfect: bread, brown butter, pickles, beef…
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Pigdin should have multiple Michelin stars, have been twice and travelled for hours specifically to eat here on special occasions. Cocktails were also incredible. Worth every penny, guests said all other food tastes bland now in comparison to Pigdin.
I’ve been several times and it always impresses. The space is lovely, the service is excellent, they cater exceptionally well for dietary requirements (as a coeliac vegetarian it can be hard to find gluten free options in London but Pidgin always delivers!), the food is inventive without being pretentious. It’s not cheap but I think it’s excellent value for what you get - £72/ head for the menu, plus c.£12 for cocktails
Nice service, ambiance and a good quantity of food. However, I feel the dishes lacked finesse (especially with people calling for Michelin) for the standing of the restaurant, especially given the price of the menu. Moreover, the house wine wasn't good; it lacked depth and was very tart, we were unable to finish it and only drank a glass. We were shocked given the price of it too.
Nice setting and service but overpriced.
Came here for a birthday dinner with my partner - I’ve had it on my list for ages! The food was experimental and fun, but I wouldn’t say it blew my mind (one course being your run of the mill bread and butter with three tiny slices of bread). Though the food was above average (and I do give credit to the imagination of the chef for sure), it was the service for me. Three young girls running front of house who seemed to know bits about the wine but not coordinated or experienced enough to run such a high end establishment with higher guest expectations.
The wine was served hastily; we were only half way done with a glass before the next one was served. It made the entire experience so rushed, we didn’t really get to savour and enjoy. They also timed the wine pairing terribly, as we would receive glasses way before or after the food was served. We had no idea which wine went with which dish nor were we walked through what or how the wine pairs with each dish. Our empty glasses were left on the table for far too long and the young front of house were also the bartenders. A martini was served that was basically straight vodka and very hard to drink (and I’m one to appreciate a lovely martini!)
Overall, I would’ve been pleased if it was more affordable than it was. But for £350 for two people, I’d expect an unforgettable experience with no sacrifice on the detail.
Stunning tasting menu!!
We absolutely loved our dinner at Pidgin as have wanted to go for years! It's incredibly impressive that the menu changes every week as every bite was a delight.
The ambiance is excellent as it felt very intimate and cozy. Service was also brilliant, our waitress explained all the dishes beautifully.
Can't wait to go again and try out a new menu on another week!
A neighbourhood gem, small, intimate restaurant with wonderfully prepared dishes and nice wine list. Located on a quiet road with lots of other great places to eat and drink. The staff are very friendly and super professional. Don’t think twice about making a reservation for dinner, you won’t be disappointed.
I had high hope for Pidgin. The setting and service were lovely, can’t really fault them.
My issue was with the food. There were a few stand out dishes, but out of a “9 course” tasting menu with wine pairing, one of the courses was a bland tempura cauliflower and another course was bread and butter.
None of it was unpleasant, just the food was disappointing given what what was promised.
It’s a good local neighbourhood restaurant, but not a destination restaurant given my experience.
I hope they improve, as the setting, atmosphere and service were good.
